Viet United score four in close contest with Tapatios
Viet United scraped out a gritty win over Tapatios on Friday night, winning the contest 4-2.
The action in this game began early when Viet United scored before a minute had been played. Straight from the kick-off they had offense on their mind, creating the game’s first scoring chance which ended in a goal for Viet United. They made quick decisions to get through Tapatios’ defense, with the ball falling to Phuc Ho in front of goal, and he didn’t let the chance go to waste as he blasted the ball into the back of the net.
Viet United kept the attack coming with more scoring chances after the goal. It didn’t take long for them to double the lead as Trung Quang Huynh completed the attack in the fourth minute. Viet United quickly turned defense into offense, entering Tapatios’ half with speed and precision. The ball was played across goal for Huynh to tap the ball into the wide open net. For Viet United, the goal scoring spree wouldn’t end there. By the 11th minute, they had increased the lead to 3-0 when Phonesavanh Phoutthavongsa was left all sorts of space, and he wasn’t closed down by any defenders, making his goal simple and tidy.
After trailing by three goals, Tapatios were ready to make the game more competitive. A scrappy goal in the 16th minute by Alejandro Ortega Hernandez started the scoring for his club, and he added a second goal two minutes later. Tapatios finally broke down Viet United’s defense and made their scoring opportunities count to get back into the game. After a first half filled with goals, Viet United went into the break hanging on to their 3-2 lead.
Not much could separate these two teams as they both continued to battle for dominance in the second half. It was a scrappy affair in the final 25 minutes, with plenty of tackles and cards being handed out. Neither team could add to the scoresheet in the second half until Trung Quang Huynh doubled Viet United’s lead in the 38th minute. Huynh’s goal ultimately sealed the win for Viet United, following one of the boldest games of the season. Viet United picked up some nice form with this victory and they’ll look to carry it on as the season progresses.
