Viet United comeback falls short in loss to Tapatios

A 13 goal thriller saw Tapatios take a narrow 7-6 win against Viet United. There were a total of 11 scorers across both teams for a high scoring game.

Viet United jumped out to an early two goal lead, scoring their goals in the opening six minutes. They were able to get past the Tapatios defense quite easily for two good goals to open the score. However, Tapatios responded back with five consecutive goals to give themselves a lead,catching Viet United by surprise. After scoring their first goal, it was all Tapatios with the attack. Viet United had no answers for them after scoring their first two goals and then giving up a 5-2 lead heading into half time.

To begin half time, Viet United scored their third goal to cut the lead to two goals. It was a quick and precise shot that caught the Tapatios goalkeeper off guard and it was drilled into the bottom corner of the net. After conceding Tapatios were back on the attack to extend their goal scoring to six goals. They use their quick speed and pace to get past Viet United’s defense and score a quick goal. Just like most of the game, the second half was filled with back and forth action. Viet United cut the lead to 6-4, giving themselves some momentum to create a comeback. Tapatios had different ideas for the end of the game. Instead of backing off and trying to protect their lead, they came roaring back to score their seventh goal of the game. They took advantage of Viet United’s offensive approach and caught them on the counter attack, leading to a two-on-one with the keeper with Tapatios winning the battle. Despite going down by four goals Viet United were determined to go down with a fight. To end the game, Viet United were able to score two goals to cut the lead two 7-6. However, Tapatios were saved by the final whistle as there was no time left on the clock for a seventh goal, and Tapatios escaped with the lead.

This was the most highly contested game of the season with both teams having a real knack for scoring. Despite the loss,  Viet United can hang their heads up high knowing they put in their full efforts to try and get the three points. For Tapatios, they’ll be happy with the win and hope to have a more tight defense in their next game.
