Unmeggable FC wins battle of the best after defeating first placed FC Silverbacks
After defeating FC Silverbacks 5-3, Unmeggable FC have won their fourth game in a row. Led by Brandyn Cheung’s hat-trick, they overpowered their opponent for the win.
As they typically do, Unmeggable FC scored within the opening moments of the game. In the 3rd minute, Unmeggable FC quickly escaped their half which resulted in a fast-paced counter attack, ending with Brandyn Cheung getting in front of the net for an easy tap-in. They doubled their lead three minutes later when Michael Jang ran through the heart of the field, escaping multiple opponents before letting off a clinical strike into the net.
In the 8th minute, FC Silverbacks got onto the board when Ethan Lier dribbled through the majority of the field and sent a strong shot into the bottom of the net. Three minutes later, FC Silverbacks equalized courtesy of Justin Kang’s touch near the goal after some great link up play. Unmeggable FC re-gained the lead in the 15th minute after a goal kick sent Ignatius Masvikeni through onto goal for a simple finish right in front of the net. That woild be the final goal of the first half as Unmeggable FC led 3-2 at half-time.
Similar to the first half, Unmeggable FC scored the first goal of the second half. They entered FC Silverbacks’ half with speed and precision, resulting in Brandyn Cheung having an easy tap-in finish to increase the lead to two goals. In the 40th minute, FC Silverbacks cut the deficit back to one when the ball fell into the path of Sabrina Lam who let off a clinical strike, making its way past the goalkeeper’s grasp. In the 51st minute, with one of the last chances of game, Brandyn Cheung intercepted the ball to go on and score to clinch his hat-trick and the win for Unmeggable FC.
After four consecutive wins, Unmeggable FC have picked up speed at the right time, heading into the playoffs. With this win, they clinched second place, just four points behind FC Silverbacks, a team they may see in the near future.
