Unmeggable FC snap three game losing streak after spectacular win against Average Joes
Another team stuck in the pack of teams in the middle was Unmeggable FC. After being shorthanded for the last few games, they were in the midst of a three game losing streak and desperate to make it out of the scrap with GI and Friends and FC Finesse. On the other hand, Average Joes were in dire need of a change in pace as the season was near to losing all of its purpose. These two teams last met in early June where Unmeggable FC took a demanding 16-2 win.
The first chance of the game fell to Unmeggable FC in the 3rd minute and no surprise that it resulted in a goal. The ball fell to Lim just outside the penalty box and he took one touch before slotting it past Ali’s grasp into the bottom left corner. Unmeggable FC kept the pressure on but were denied by the keeper and post until the 9th minute. Masvikeni got on the end of a cross from the right side to gently tap-in Unmeggable’s 2nd goal of the game. Two minutes later, some great build-up play and dribbling allowed Cheung to have a free path into an open net to make it 3-0. However, Average Joes countered Unmeggable’s attack with a goal of their own in the 14th minute when newcomer Theo blasted the ball past the keeper’s grasp to get Average Joes on the scoring sheet. Both teams had chances to extend or close down the lead after Average Joes’ goal but the goalkeepers made some great saves to keep the ball out of the net. Unmeggable FC led the game 3-1 heading into half-time.
Once again, Average Joes refused to go down. Following half-time, the team dispossessed an Unmeggable FC attack resulting in a breakaway for another Average Joes newcomer Avi who fired a shot into the top right corner to cut the lead down to 3-2. However, the lead was doubled when Masvikeni scored his 2nd goal of the game. He patiently waited to get into prime scoring position before roofing the shot into the top of the net, proving too fast and strong for the keeper or any defender. After being found alone with a full net to shoot at with no defensive pressure, Cheung scored his 2nd goal of the game to make it 5-2 to Unmeggable FC and a minute later, he completed his hat-trick. A quick counter attack by Unmeggable FC once again found Cheung all alone on the right side allowing him to easily score his 3rd goal. Though, the onslaught continued because a minute after Cheung’s goal, Takahashi quickly dribbled past the majority of the Joes defense to score his first 1st goal of the game. Aujla capped off the scoring for Unmeggable FC in the 37th minute after the Average Joes’ defense was left trailing three Unmeggable attackers and Aujla slotted the ball into the net. Although the game was well out of reach, Average Joes didn’t give up and Avi was found again on a breakaway to score the consolation goal and his 2nd goal in his debut.
Luckily for Unmeggable FC, they were able to snap a three game losing streak before it got out of hand. They’re able to stay in contention with GI and Friends and FC Finesse as they sit in 4th place with 10 games played. In contrast for Average Joes, they suffer yet another defeat but with some new players on the roster, their attacking play looks a lot more dangerous and clinical even if it didn’t end in a result for them tonight.
