Unmeggable FC end season strong and finish as champions

Unmeggable FC are declared champions of the season after defeating the Brownies 10-6 in the championship game! After an exciting season that saw these teams take home plenty of wins, the final showdown was a winner-take-all bragging rights game. 

Unmeggable FC and the Brownies played each other twice in the regular season, with both teams taking a victory and one game ending in a 3-3 draw. In the first game of the season the teams met in the 3-3 draw. The season opener was a feeling out process with both teams being evenly matched.

In the weeks to follow, the Brownies and Unmeggable FC began to pick up momentum emerging as teams capable of beating anybody. The Brownies ended the season with three wins, six losses and one draw with 44 goals scored and 44 goals conceded. Meanwhile, Unmeggable FC finished with six wins, three losses and one draw with 52 goals scored and 31 goals conceded. With either side able to put up goals in a hurry, the final was shaping up to be a great game.

It’s no surprise that Unmeggable FC jumped out to a lead in the opening moments of the game. It’s what they had done throughout the course of the season and they were not about to stop in the most important game. Two of the league’s most prolific scorers, Brandyn Cheung and Nakwon Choi, got Unmeggable FC on the board in the 1st and 4th minute. Cheung used his blistering speed to get through on goal and Choi’s header from a corner found the back of the net for a quick 2-0 lead. 

The duo were back on the attack in the 8th and 10th minute, once again finding crafty avenues towards goal. Weaving through their opponents, they quadrupled their lead for Unmeggable FC inside ten minutes. 

After some chances, the Brownies finally answered back in the 11th minute. Rtvik Nambiar let off a shot from long-range which proved to be too strong and powerful as the goalkeeper got a hand on the ball but ultimately couldn’t keep it out. In the 17th minute, Cheung added one more goal to achieve a quick hat-trick and push the lead to four in the first half. Just before half-time, the Brownies smartly played a free kick to a wide open Nambiar to cut the lead to 5-2 heading into the break. 

Immediately following half-time, Unmeggable FC were back on the attack, scoring in the 28th minute. Michael Jang came storming into the Brownies half to get himself towards goals for a simple finish to open the second half.

In the 32nd minute, the Brownies got on the board once more when their counter attack took them into Unmeggable’s half and the ball was played across goal to Anders for the Brownies’ third goal. However minutes later, Unmeggable FC came roaring back, scoring two goals in three minutes. To start, Cheung intercepted the ball at the half-way line and used his blistering speed to run towards goal and score. Two minutes later, in the 35th minute, Jang similarly received the ball and ran throughout the side of the field, past all defenders in sight to score his second goal of the game. 

With the minutes that remained, there was plenty of back-and-forth action, with both teams trading goals. It started with Jason Fowler for the Brownies in the 38th minute. The Brownies dispossessed Unmeggable FC in their own half with Fowler taking the ball and shooting from very far, miraculously guiding it into the bottom corner of the net. Three minutes later, Cheung continued his brilliance, quickly working his way through the defense for yet another goal.

Fowler was in the right place at the right time in the 42nd minute to tap in a missed shot right in front of the net to score the Brownies’ fifth goal. One minute after their goal, Unmeggable FC responded when Choi spectacularly drilled a free kick past every defender and into the net. To end the game, Fowler added one more goal to cap the scoring off at 10-6.

While this game did not disappoint with the amount of goals, Unmeggable FC controlled the game from the jump en route to their championship victory. Following an excitement filled season, Unmeggable FC reigned supreme as the sole best team in the league, following a terrific season-clinching game. They preserved through every obstacle and stuck together as a team to earn the well deserved seasonal victory.
