Strathcona Primo shut out FC RAWC in semi-final

Strathcona Primo are advancing to the season final after defeating FC RAWC 7-0 in the second semi-final. After running through their opponents all season long, they overpowered FC RAWC with a clean sheet and seven goals.

Strathcona Primo were the first team to get on the board when they scored in the 4th minute. A free kick was played straight into the goalkeeper who made the save but the rebound fell into the path of Fidel Benson who cleaned up and put the ball into the net. Both teams had chances to add to the scoreboard but neither team for the majority of the opening thirty minutes. It was not until the 28th minute that the next goal of the game was scored. Strathcona Primo denied FC RAWC of a scoring chance with Anthony Page-Vincelli using the counter attack to run from his own end to the opposition’s to score the second goal of the game.

Five minutes later, Strathcona Primo were back on the attack. Following a throw-in, the ball found its way to Richard Culleton who let off a shot that was high enough to beat the goalkeeper’s diving grasp to increase the lead to 3-0. In the 43rd minute, the game began to slip into Strathcona Primo’s hands as they took a four goal lead following another strike from Page-Vincelli who calmly slotted the ball into the net despite some heavy defending from FC RAWC. Two minutes later, Strathcona Primo added another goal when Culleton was in the right place at the right time for an easy tap-in.

The lead increased to half a dozen in the 47th minute when Page-Vincelli secured his hat-trick. After some defending which left FC RAWC scrambling, Page-Vincelli cheekily back-heeled the ball into the open net to make it 6-0. The final goal of the game was scored by Samuel Harper in the final minute when he tapped the ball into the open net to secure, what was already known, a Strathcona Primo win.

It is no surprise that Strathcona Primo dominated the semi-final just like they had done all season long. After a strong and consistent regular season run, they continued it into the playoffs and now are faced with the task of a final matchup with Serbia United.
