Strathcona Primo and Serbia United cannot be separated after 5-5 draw

Strathcona Primo FC and Serbia United FC could not be separated in the final match of the season as they drew 5-5. The top two teams in the league proved how closely fought the season has been after a well-earned draw from both teams.

The opening goal of the game was scored by Serbia United in the 5th minute when they quickly entered Strathcona Primo’s half with Majo Bratic getting the final touch on the ball to guide it into the net. Serbia United wouldn’t hold the lead for long as Strathcona Primo equalized two minutes later courtesy of Richard Culleton’s long-range strike. In the 16th minute, Strathcona Primo scored again to take the lead. Matteo Flex’s run from the outside allowed him to get to the net and though his first shot was saved, he rebounded his own miss and scored. Back-and-forth the scoring went as Serbia United equalized just one minute later. A corner was played into the box and Sasha Vukovic got a strong touch on the ball to guide it into the net. Vukovic was on the attack again in the ensuing minute, forcing Strathcona into a mistake and pouncing on the ball to give his team the lead. After a star-studded first half, Serbia United took a slim one goal lead into the break.

Serbia United wasted no time adding to their lead as they scored in the opening minute of the second half. A short corner was played to Luke Middleton and his long-range shot squeezed past multiple players before finding the back of the net. Strathcona Primo came storming back one minute later when Richard Culleton dribbled through multiple defenders and drilled a shot into the back of the net. In the 36th minute, Strathcona Primo equalized when Matteo Flex practically mirrored the previous finish by dribbling through many opponents and finally scoring. They continued their momentum in the 43rd minute by taking the lead. After working tirelessly to get their fifth goal, Matteo Flex scored to give his team the lead as the game winded down. However, Serbia United were determined to not let any points slip away in the final contest of the season. They worked their way all the way to the front of the net and Bratic was the one who got a touch to put the ball into the net to tie the game.

Both teams worked effortlessly for this result and earned nothing less than a draw. After being neck and neck for the entire season, Strathcona Primo and Serbia United have lined up an exciting playoff.
