Silverbacks overcome three goal deficit in dramatic fashion

FC Silverbacks remain undefeated after a close game saw them defeat the Brownies 4-3. Led by four different goal Scorers, FC Silverbacks sit comfortably on top of the league with seven wins and zero losses.

Immediately from the opening whistle, the action started. With their first chance on goal, the Brownies attacked with speed and precision. On the right wing, Tania Blasio’s shot snuck between the goalkeeper’s grasp and crept into the net to give his team the lead in the 1st minute. Just four minutes later, the Brownies were back on the attack and it was Blasio again who was in the right place at the right time to place the ball into the net. As the half winded down, the Brownies forced FC Silverbacks into a mistake and Blasio was knocking at the door again to score his third and the team’s third.

Heading into half-time, FC Silverbacks were determined to not be looking at a three goal deficit. Two goals in quick succession in the 22nd and 24th minute from Ethan Lier and Amelia Leong helped close the gap before the half-time whistle was blown. A half that was full of goals and excitement saw the Brownies take a slim 3-2 lead into the break.

Following half-time, both teams had plenty of chances to add to the scoreboard but neither team could. It wasn’t until the 43rd minute, when FC Silverbacks worked their way to the front of the opposition’s net, that the first goal of the second half would be scored. Amidst the chaos in front of the goal, Michael Watson was left wide open at the back post for a simple finish to equalize the game. From three goals down, FC Silverbacks showed great perseverance to come back. However, they weren’t done as in the 46th minute the winning goal was scored. FC Silverbacks quickly defended their half before going on the counter. Jake Dinoto’s shot from way outside the penalty area was tucked into the corner of the net and proved to be the winner.

After going down 3-0 within the opening minutes, the game looked to be over but FC Silverbacks showcased their endurance, scoring four consecutive goals to come out with the 4-3 win. With this win, they remain as the only undefeated team and perhaps can’t be beaten in any fashion.
