Silverbacks keep perfect record after win against Unmeggable FC

FC Silverbacks remain as the only team to remain perfect, having won all three of their games. They defeated Unmeggable FC 7-3 in the third matchweek of the season.

It took longer than usual for FC Silverbacks to start the goal scoring tally but in the 9th minute, Ethan Lier put them in front as defense was turned into attack and he felt little resistance in front of the net to score the game’s first goal. Two minutes later, Justin Kang doubled the lead when FC Silverbacks escaped their end quickly, leading to a fast counter attack for Kang to guide the ball into the net.

In the 20th minute, Brandon Cheung scored for Unmeggable FC to cut the deficit to one. The ball ping-ponged across multiple players before falling to Cheung who took one touch with his chest and then struck the ball into the net. However, FC Silverbacks would restore their two goal lead just two minutes later, courtesy of Lier’s second. They intercepted an Unmeggable goal kick and once again the ball was played to Lier and he had no problem sliding the ball past the keeper. After a tightly contested first half, FC Silverbacks led Unmeggable FC 3-1 at half-time.

Three minutes into the second half, Nakwon Choi scored Unmeggable FC’s second goal of the game. He expertly dribbled into the Silverbacks’ half and cleanly put away a strong, precise shot. FC Silverbacks came back with two consecutive goals in the 34th minute scored by Michael Watson and Justin Kang. Watson’s shot was an impressive effort from long range. He saw he faced no pressure from the defense and put the ball high and over the keeper, just inside the crossbar. Kang’s strike from just outside the penalty box was a strong and determined finish that left the keeper frozen in his place.

Kang capped off his hat-trick in the 42nd minute with another forceful strike that was drilled into the bottom corner of the net. Unmeggable FC responded three minutes later when Nakwon Choi scored his second goal of the game. He hit a shot from well outside the penalty box that proved to be too high and strong for the goalkeeper to handle. One minute later, the final marks of the game were put on by Kang with his fourth goal of the game.

A back-and-forth game saw FC Silverbacks take their third win of the season and become the first and only team to hit three wins out of three. In contrast, Unmeggable FC remain without a win after a draw and loss through two games.
