Rats United earn first victory of season in final game
After ten games, Rats United have finally won their first game of the season after defeating FC RAWC 4-3. Led by a brace from Liam Elgert and Amir Kadiric, they outlasted their opponent in a close victory.
Within the first minute, the action had started. It only took three minutes for Rats United to build a sizable lead as they went up 2-0. FC RAWC turned the ball over near their own goal and Rats United pounced on the ball as soon as they got the chance, leading Amir Kadiric to have an easy tap-in goal in front of the open net. After their first goal, Rats United kept their defensive pressure up, forcing FC RAWC into another mistake. Once again, the ball was turned over and Liam Elgert took two touches before drilling the ball into the bottom corner.
There were plenty of chances for both teams to score in the remaining minutes of the first half but it was FC RAWC who took advantage. In the 14th minute, they answered back when Oscar Sifuentes scored, following a corner, to cut the deficit to one goal. Just before half-time, FC RAWC equalized when Jaskarn Ranu’s headed strike bobbled off of the goalkeeper before awkwardly landing in the net. After 25 minutes of equal and exciting attacking play, both teams were level at the break.
Similarly to the first half, goals were scored in the opening minutes of the second half. Rats United re-took the lead in the 27th minute. They did a spectacular job of denying FC RAWC a goal and quickly turned that defense into offense. The dynamic duo of Elgert and Kadiric had a 2-on-zero attack with the ball being played to Kadiric for another simple finish. They doubled their lead once again when Elgert fired the ball into the net from a free kick. In the 39th minute, Alexis Ayon scored a great goal for FC RAWC with a rabona kick to cut Rats United’s lead to one.
That goal turned out to be the last action of the game as Rats United took home a 4-3 win and their first win of the season in the last exhibition game. Rats United’s hard work and offensive prowess finally paid off to hand them a hard-earned win.
