Mictlan win close game against Viet United

After two vastly different opening games, with Viet United completing a comeback win and Mictlan FC losing in the final minutes, both teams were set up for an even affair.

This game was as close as it could be. Both teams were closely contested in skill and this game proved that. It was Viet United who got the scoring started in the 2nd minute. For the majority of the first half, it was neck and neck with neither team creating any meaningful separation. Viet United had multiple opportunities to extend the lead, and Mictlan had plenty of chances to equalize. It wouldn’t be until the 17th minute when Mictlan found the game-tying goal. They were awarded a free kick, and to Viet United’s surprise, the ball went through every defender and eventually through the goalkeeper’s grasp also. The teams went into the break tied at 1-1.

After half-time, Mictlan was the team to break the deadlock which happened in the 30th minute. Viet United originally did a great job of holding off Mictlan by making some wonderful saves, but a clearance from United was blocked and the ball was redirected into the net for Mictlan to take a 2-1 lead. But the lead wouldn’t be safe as Viet United equalized in the ensuing minute. From the exact same spot that Mictlan equalized in the first half, Viet United used the same play, catching their opponents off guard for an equalizer of their own. As the game was coming to a close, it looked as if this one was heading to a sharing of the points. However, Mictlan had other ideas. In the 45th minute, Mictlan sent their entire team forward for a free kick. The ball somehow miraculously went over everyone in sight and found the back of the net. All the way from the other half, Mictlan found the winner in one of the weirdest ways possible. 

For Mictlan, they’ll be glad this game went in their favor as opposed to last week. After dropping their first game, they get into the win column. For Viet United, this was a hardfought effort but the final result ultimately slips away from them.
