MFC Dynamo win big before playoffs

MFC Dynamo were unstoppable in their final win of the season as they beat Strathcona Primo 9-3 on Friday night.

To begin the game, neither team could get off on the right foot, and it took some time for the game’s opening goal to be scored. In the 8th minute, MFC Dynamo took the lead, but Strathcona Primo answered right back in the 10th minute when Matteo Flex scored to make it 1-1. The goal scoring kept coming as in the 11th minute MFC Dynamo re-took the lead. It was a small scramble in front of the net as the ball fell to Edson Junior to score. The remainder of the first half was quiet until the 21st minute when some noise was made while Strathcona Primo finally equalized. A free kick right outside the box was awarded to Strathcona and Flex the ball into the top corner his and his team’s second goal. However, before the half could be called to a halt MFC Dynamo snuck in front to take the lead. They quickly worked themselves into Strathcona’s half, the ball fell to Felipe Rech, and he calmly scored to give MFC Dynamo the 3-2 lead heading into half-time.

Strathcona were the team to bring the firepower to begin the the second period. They came with plenty of shots, but they continued to be shut out by MFC Dynamo’s spectacular defense and goalkeeping. Those misses would catch up to them in the 35th minute when MFC Dynamo finally added to the lead. An errant goalkeeper pass from Strathcona was thrown into the path of Rech who doubled his scoring tally to give his team a 4-2 lead. In the 38th minute, Strathcona came back to decrease the deficit with Flex’s tap-in goal, but that would be the last imprint Strathcona Primo would leave on the game. To end the contest, MFC Dynamo scored five unanswered goals. In the 42nd minute, the ball was flung forward from MFC Dynamo’s half and into Nakwon Choi who made a clever run and score MFC Dynamo’s fifth goal.

In the closing moments of the game, MFC Dynamo’s extra legs and fresh substitutes proved too much for Strathcona Primo. With four goals in the final eight minutes, MFC Dynamo clinched their spot in the playoffs with a 9-3 win.
