MFC Dynamo score six in Serbia United’s first loss

After a thrilling eleven goal outing, MFC Dynamo have walked away with a 6-5 win against FC Serbia United. Following a run of five perfect games, Serbia United finally felt defeat as their five game win streak came to an end. 

As the rain poured down, two of the most attack-heavy teams prepared to do battle. Chances came left and right to open the game but it was Bojan Samardzija who scored first for Serbia United. Following a missed opportunity by MFC Dynamo, Serbia United’s goal kick was booted all the way up the field before finding the path of Samardzija for a finish in front of the net. In the 13th minute, MFC Dynamo were awarded a penalty after a mistimed tackle by Serbia United in the penalty box. In the ensuing minute, Vaclav Cahyna made no mistake and drilled home the equalizer. After their first goal, MFC Dynamo would feel the momentum as they took the lead in the 16th minute. From yet another set piece, this time a free kick, Cahyna gently placed the ball past Serbia United’s defense for his and his team’s second goal.

However, their lead would be short-lived as Serbia United equalized and then retook the lead all in the 19th minute. For the equalizer, Serbia United quickly entered MFC Dynamo’s half before Vukovic dribbled through a couple of opponents and took a shot that found the bottom right corner of the net. Mike Lazarevic followed up Vukovic’s strike in the same minute with an effort of his own after Serbia United turned defense into attack with Lazarevic being unmarked at the back post. The first half drama would not end there as MFC Dynamo equalized on the brink of half-time in the 24th minute. Slowly but surely, MFC Dynamo entered the opposition half and Mark Gnocato took a quick turn before drilling a shot past the goalkeeper’s near post. After a back-and-forth first half, MFC Dynamo and Serbia United could not be separated at three goals a-piece. 

To begin the final 25 minutes of play, the second half of the game was filled with plenty of entertainment, similar to its predecessor. In the 30th minute, it was Serbia United’s turn for a penalty after a player was brought down in the box. Samardzija made no mistake and scored his second of the game to give his team the lead. However, Serbia United did not lead for long when Gnocato also scored his second goal of the game in the 31st minute. 

In the 38th minute, Serbia United went back in front after a Lazarevic cross into Samardzija to seal his hat-trick found the back of the net. After more chances for both teams, MFC Dynamo answered back with yet another equalizer in the 43rd minute. They enjoyed a few passes that allowed them to get close to the net, with Cahyna following a pattern to also get his hat-trick. In the final moments of the game, both teams were desperately searching for the crucial lead taking goal. It would be MFC Dynamo who took the lead in the 47th minute when Suri let off a low-driven shot from a long way out to beat the goalkeeper at the left post.

In one of the more closely contested games of the season, MFC Dynamo walked away victorious after an exciting game filled with plenty of chances. They completed what no team had done this season, defeating Serbia United.
