Los Panchos take two goal victory over Brewventus

Los Panchos strolled to a win after pulling away to defeat Brewventus 5-3 on Friday evening.

With two teams struggling to find consistent form, this matchup was looking like a closely contested affair. As soon as the game started, Los Panchos were ready to make a mark on the game. They did a great job of retaining the ball and gliding through Brewvents’ defense until they got to the front of the goal in the 2nd minute and fired off a shot into the goal before the Brewventus goalkeeper could react. Los Panchos kept the attack coming, and they finally doubled the lead in the 8th minute. Another rocket of a shot was fired into the Brewventus half, and it miraculously found the back of the net. Brewventus were ready to show more fight in the following minutes as they equalized in the 9th minute. Cameron Govender found the back of the net to get his team back in the game. The remainder of the first half was neck and neck, with neither team adding any ink to the scoresheet; Los Panchos went into the break leading 2-1.

Oppostite to the first half, Breweventus started the second half on the front foot. In the 26th minute a long throw-in was sent into the box, and Govender jumped above everyone to get his head onto the ball and score his second goal of the game. After trailing by two goals early on, Brewventus clawed their way back to even the score. However, the game wouldn’t stay equal for long as Los Panchos scored to re-gain their lead in the 32nd minute. Brewventus committed too many men as Los Panchos had the easy job of scoring into a wide open net with a tap-in. The goal scoring pattern continued as once again Brewventus equalized the game. In the 34th minute, a corner was played into the box, and after taking a few bounces Govender poked the ball free into the net to secure his hat-trick and the 3-3 scoreline.

Similar to the first equalizer, it wouldn’t mean much as Los Panchos took back the lead just two minutes later. It was just like Brewventus’s goal with the ball taking a few bounces before finally finding the back of the net as Los Panchos took back the lead. After more attack from both sides, the game was finally put to bed in the 44th minute. Brewventus originally stopped the first shot with a save, but there were no defenders to clear the ball as Los Panchos had another open net for their 5-3 win.

With this win, Los Panchos will receive some nice momentum to continue into the latter half of the season as they look for consistency with their results. For Brewventus, this is another game that slipped away from them in the final minutes.
