Golacticos breeze past Cookie Monsters with nine goal outing

Golacticos dominated the Cookie Monsters with a 9-2 win in the first match of the season.

Golacticos began this game on the right foot, applying heavy pressure as soon as the opening whistle was blown. They had plenty of chances to go ahead in the beginning 10 minutes, but they fired balls over the net or they couldn’t complete their final passes. That changed in the 14th minute when Golacticos finally got towards goal in a promising manner, gently placing the ball into the net. More domination came from Golacticos immediately after their opening goal as they scored four goals in 10 minutes. The Cookie Monsters wouldn’t and couldn’t close down their opponents, and Golacticos got everything they wanted in front of goal. Golacticos were excellent on both ends of the field, allowing the Cookie Monsters to barely any shots, and plenty of attacking chances for themselves. After a dominating first half display, Golacticos led 5-0 at half-time.

To start the second half, the Cookie Monsters were determined to put their missed chances behind them, and that’s exactly what they did, scoring not one but two goals to begin the second half. They made quick work of Golacticos’ less than ideal defending, allowing themselves to get two great chances in front of the net to cut the lead to 5-2. Unfortunately, that would be the last sign off attack for the Cookie Monsters, with Golacticos taking back the dominance of the game. It might have taken over 15 minutes for Golacticos to score their first goal of the second half, but once they did the goals kept on coming. They scored their final four goals in just under six minutes, stretching the lead out to 9-2 by the 46th minute. The final whistle blew, signaling the end of the game and saving the Cookie Monsters before the final score got out of hand.

This was a tremendous first win for Golacticos as the win never looked like slipping away from them. The final score was a great confidence boost for Golacticos, and they’ll be on fire heading into the coming weeks. For the Cookie Monsters, this wasn’t a good opening day, and they’ll hope to use this loss as fuel for their next outing.
