Fifteen goals scored in action-packed Burnaby Offside victory

After a 10-5 win over the Brownies, Burnaby Offside FC have picked up their third win of the season. Led by five different goal scorers, they dominated all facets of the game to earn a well-deserved victory.

Burnaby Offside FC wasted no time starting their attack as soon as the game started. In the opening seven minutes, they were already up 2-0, courtesy of goals from Firas Syed and Aftab Ali. They made use of the early and timid opening minutes to give their team an early advantage. This was only the beginning of their attack as Aryan Pant added another goal in the 12th minute. He took advantage of some less than ideal defending from the Brownies and had the easy job of scoring right in front of goal. Theo Boucherie added another two minutes later when the Brownies’ defense allowed Burnaby Offside to get past them easily and Boucherie was able to drill a shot close to goal. He added another four minutes later after some lackluster defending lead to Burnaby Offside having their way on offense for the goal.

In the 22nd minute, the Brownies finally put an end to the pure dominance from Burnaby Offside. The Brownies were able to stop a counter attack from the opposition which then lead to a counter of their own and Daniela Oman was left wide open for a chip finish that went over the goalkeeper and in. After a half filled with nothing but goals, Burnaby Offside led 5-1 at half-time.

Burnaby Offside FC were determined to start the second half on a better note than they ended the first half on. They achieved that by scoring just as early as they did in the first half, this time in the 28th and 33rd minute. It was Pant again at the scene for both goals to secure his hat-trick. He effortlessly scored, making it look too easy, to extend his team’s lead to six goals. The Brownies answered back with another goal in the 35th minute when Jason Fowler dispossessed Burnaby Offside and was able to ward off any defenders by dribbling to the front of the net, with his low-driven shot being guided into the bottom left of the net.

Burnaby Offside immediately rebutted that effort from the opposition in the ensuing minute. The Brownies originally stopped Burnaby Offside from getting through but their defense was poor, leading to Syed to have an open net to drill the ball into. In the 42nd and 43rd minute, the Brownies scored two consecutive goals, scored again by Fowler. He did a great job of moving without the ball to get into prime scoring positions to secure his hat-trick and cut the lead to a much more respectable 8-4. In the 44th minute, Boucherie followed the theme as he also scored his hat-trick. They worked their way to the front of the net and Boucherie’s shot bounced off the left post and in. Both teams traded punches in the closing minutes of the game with the Brownies throwing their last one in the 46th minute. Tania Blasio expertly dribbled through multiple opponents before a shot from a sharp angle found the back of the net. The final goal of the game was scored in the 47th minute by Burnaby Offside Amer Qureshi clinched the double digit tally for his team.

One of the more higher scoring games of the season, this contest was nothing short of constant excitement. Burnaby Offside FC practically ended the game before it even started with their dominant first half display. It was a valiant effort from the Brownies in the second half but it turned out to be too little too late.
