What should I wear?

We recognize that recreational teams may not have their own jerseys, especially if they are made of individual players! For that reason, CML created Jerseys and Equipment Policy, and divided the requirements into two tears.

  1. Tier – Recreational Leagues
  2. Tier – Semi-Competitive & Competitive Leagues
Jersey colours

Recreational Leagues:

Each team shall have a jersey or shirt of the same colour. If the team doesn’t have jerseys, players must agree on a T-shirt colour they will wear for the rest of the season. They will have to remember the “numbers” that they will get assigned for tracking statistics. If two teams have the same or similar colours of their jerseys, pinnies will be available.

Sweat pants and track pants are allowed if they don’t have any exposed metal, such as zippers or snaps. It’s up to the game referee to decide what’s safe and what is not.

Semi-Competitive & Competitive Leagues

Each team shall have a jersey of the same colour with a visible number on the back. If two teams have the same or similar colours of their jerseys, pinnies will be available. No T-shirts allowed.

Sweat pants and track pants are allowed if they don’t have any exposed metal, such as zippers or snaps. It’s up to the game referee to decide what’s safe and what is not.

Footwear

Running shoes and/or sneakers are not allowed for safety reasons! Only proper soccer shoes (cleats, turf shoes, indoor shoes, etc.) are permitted. This rule is identical for both tiers!

Shin pads

Recreational Leagues:

CML strongly recommends that every player wears shin pads to protect him/her from an injury; however, shin pads are not mandatory in recreational leagues.

Semi-Competitive & Competitive Leagues

In higher-tier leagues, players MUST wear shin pads to protect him/her from an injury. Shin pads are a required piece of equipment and will be checked by the referee before every game. If a player does not wear shin pads, he/she can be cautioned with a yellow card.
