Cuventus pick up fifth straight win against Twente Benson

Cuventus extended their win streak to five as they defeated FC Twente Benson 6-3. Led by Conor O’Brien’s hat-trick, Cuventus edged Twente Benson for their sixth win of the campaign. 

Within two minutes, Cuventus already made a mark on the game by scoring their first goal in the 2nd minute. Unfortunately for Twente Benson, they conceded an own goal to give Cuventus the lead. Cuventus added to their advantage in the 10th minute when they rapidly entered Twente Benson’s half, leading to Damien Lacey working his way around the goalkeeper and gently tapping in Cuventus’ second goal. Just two minutes later, Cuventus were back on attack. This time it was Will Condon who took one pristine touch from a throw-in before scoring. In the 16th minute, FC Twente Benson scored their first goal of the game. It was a wonderfully worked goal by Cian Kervick where he received the ball at the half-way line and, by himself, he held off three Cuventus defenders before putting the ball past the keeper’s grasp. Just before half-time, Cuventus extended their lead to 4-1. They worked their way back into Twente Benson’s half and a quick one-two play led to Conor O’Brien scoring from close range.

The first goal of the second half was scored by Cian Kervick for FC Twente Benson in the 29th minute. A quick ball was played into Kervick, leading to a one-on-one with the keeper which Kervick made no mistake and slotted it away. In the 43rd minute, Michael Godley scored for FC Twente Benson by getting into a perfect scoring position and slowly rolling the ball past the goalkeeper. With FC Twente Benson just one goal away from tying the game, Cuventus turned on the attack by scoring two goals in the final moments of the game. In the 48th and 49th minute, Conor O’Brien scored both goals to secure his hat-trick and the win for Cuventus. The first was an easy tap-in as he was left unmarked at the back post. The second goal came from a misplaced kick which allowed O’Brien to get right in front of goal for the easy task of scoring the game’s final goal.

Following their triumphant display, Cuventus go level on points with MFC Dynamo, worthy of first place in the division as they both have 18 points each. Cuventus have now won five games in a row and look to be unstoppable. MFC Dynamo are still within reach of the two teams ahead of them but with loss are six points behind them.
