Late run by Cuventus secures third win of season

After a break in action, all four teams returned to action on Sunday night. Four goals from Shane Donoghue led Cuventus to the 8-6 win over MFC Dynamo. Cuventus’ win puts them in the midst of a two game and worthy of the second best record in the league.

The game started in spectacular fashion with an abundance of scoring. Four goals were scored from the 14th to the 20th minute, three for Cúventus and one for MFC Dynamo. The first for Cúventus was scored by Kieran Tuohy who took advantage of the goalkeeper being off his line and gently rolled the ball into the net. Less than a minute later, Cúventus quickly entered the opposition after Shane Donoghue’s solo run which resulted in him receiving the ball back for Cúventus’ second consecutive goal. Two minutes later, Cúventus already had a third goal. Scored by Yuri Lednei in the 17th minute, he was unmarked at the right post following a corner which allowed him to score effortlessly and easily.

Fortunately for MFC Dynamo, they were able to put an end to the Cúventus onslaught in the 20th minute when they scored their first goal of the game. Dynamo’s quick attack left several Cúventus defenders trailing, resulting in Filipe Rech getting in front of goal and tapping the ball into the net. Just before half-time, Cúventus added one more goal to their tally in the 24th minute. Will Condon was able to alleviate pressure from a Dynamo defender and score from a tough angle for Cúventus’ fourth goal. Cúventus went into the break leading 4-1.

Immediately following half-time, there was a flurry of attack from MFC Dynamo. By the 28th minute, the game was already tied, courtesy of goals from David Danko and Stefan Lukacovsky. Danko scored his first goal in the 26th minute and his second in the 28th. Both goals were the definition of right place, right time to help cut the deficit to just one goal. Following the kick-off from Danko’s goal, MFC Dynamo dispossessed Cúventus to get right on goal which allowed Lukacovsky to get yards within goal for an uncomplicated finish.

Just two minutes later, Cúventus re-gained their lead from one of the most unorthodox goals ever. Directly from a goal kick, the ball was played right to Donoghue who got the tiniest of flicks onto the ball to redirect it into the net. In the 40th minute, MFC Dynamo equalized from a Michal Stehlík strike which proved to be too strong for the goalkeeper to handle.

Once again, the two teams would trade goals as Cúventus took the lead back in the 43rd minute but MFC Dynamo equalized in the 45th minute. Cúventus’ goal was scored by Donoghue’s, his hat-trick, which he got into his recurring spot and squeezed the ball past the keeper for Cúventus’ sixth goal. Although, that goal was voided as an unfortunate own goal was scored by Cúventus to allow MFC the equalizer.

As the game looked to be ending in a draw, Donoghue and Tuohy turned on the afterburners as they scored two goals at the dying moments to secure the win. In the 49th minute, Tuohy received a pass from Donoghue which he blasted towards the net with the shot taking off of the keeper and into the net. Two minutes later, Donoghue was once again in the right place as the ball trickled towards him which he poked into the net for the guaranteed win.

Cúventus have picked up two straight wins now and are looking like they are picking up their form after dropping their first meeting with MFC Dynamo. Luckily for MFC Dynamo, they are even on points (9) with Cúventus but this loss starts a losing streak for them, having now lost two in a row.
