Cuventus breeze through Pathetico Madrid

Cuventus have defeated Pathetico Madrid 8-2 in the seventh matchweek of the season. Led by Damien Lacey’s four goals and Conor O’Brien’s hat-trick, Cuventus picked up their fifth win in dominating fashion.

Only one goal came in the first half and it was from Damien Lacey for Cuventus in the 8th minute. Following a goal kick, the ball was played directly to him where he had all the time in the world to take one touch before shooting and scoring. The remainder of the first half was equal for both sides with near misses but neither team was able to make a proper impression on the scoresheet.

Directly out of half-time, Conor O’Brien scored one of the fastest hat-tricks you will ever see as he scored three goals in three consecutive minutes. His first came in the 27th minute following a cross goal pass which he got a touch on the ball to guide it into the net. The next came from a corner which once again O’Brien was in the perfect position to guide the ball into the net. Lastly, perhaps the best goal, he scored in the 29th minute after he received the ball in the penalty box and firmly shot the ball into the net to extend the lead to 4-0.

Immediately following O’Brien’s goal, Pathetico Madrid answered back with two consecutive goals of their own in the 30th and 37th minute courtesy of Kieran Patchell. First was a header that controversially squeezed over the line despite the goalkeeper protesting that he saved the shot. The goal was ultimately given and Patchell followed up that goal with a much easier two touch strike seven minutes later to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Similar to his teammate, Damien Lacey also scored three consecutive goals from the 42nd to 49th minute as he finished with four goals in total. The first was a result of some very patient build-up play by Cuventus which allowed Lacey to be in the right spot in front of goal. He followed it up with two goals that showcased Madrid’s tiredness and lack of effort as Lacey and his teammates were able to easily dance around their opponents to extend the lead to 7-2. Promptly following the restart, Cuventus dispossessed Madrid and Jason Bergin capitalized off a misplaced clearance to pounce on the ball and clinch the 8-2 win for Cuventus.

Having played one game more than MFC Dynamo below them, Cuventus moved solely into first place having won five of seven games, worthy of 15 points. For Pathetico Madrid, they are still searching for their first win of the season after losing six straight with a -26 goal difference.
