Burnaby Offside FC get first win of season after five goal outing
Burnaby Offside FC have picked up their first win of the season after a 5-2 win over the Brownies. After three consecutive defeats, they bounced back with a convincing effort.
In contrast to their previous games, it was Burnaby Offside FC who started the scoring. They took an early 2-0 lead within the first six minutes. Two goals in quick succession in the 3rd and 6th minute caught the Brownies’ defense off guard as they found themselves in a large hole. In the 21st minute, the Brownies answered back with a goal of their own to cut the deficit to one just before half-time. They stopped one Burnaby Offside’s chances and quickly turned that stellar defending into a scoring chance right in front of goal. At the end of the first 25 minutes of play, Burnaby Offside FC had a 2-1 lead.
Following half-time, Burnaby Offside FC kept their foot on the gas, scoring three consecutive goals in the 28th, 30th and 31st minute. They refused to let the Brownies get any momentum going forward, stopping any kind of attack. Their persistence paid off when three goals were scored in five minutes, all from great teamwork and efficient build-up play. Their excellence left no chance for the Brownies to stop any of the goals as the ball was powerfully drilled into the net on more than one occasion. The final goal of the game was as unorthodox and cagey as you will ever see. It was a scramble in front of Burnaby’s net for the ball, bouncing off multiple legs before the ball went into the net from an own goal.
After a dominant performance, Burnaby Offside FC have finally got their first win. They put their previous mishaps behind them and put on their best performance of the season to dominate all facets of this game. They now join everyone else with at least one win and will hope to build on this win in the weeks to come.
