Brownies shut out Silverbacks to advance to final

The Brownies have defeated FC Silverbacks in dominating fashion to advance to the finals. They cruised to victory after scoring eight goals and keeping a clean sheet.

The opening moments of the game were tightly contested with both teams coming up with lots of attacking play. The Brownies had most of the chances and their persistence finally paid off in the 14th minute with their first goal. FC Silverbacks tried to clear the ball from their box but couldn’t as the ball fell to Bijhan Hirani who drilled the ball into the net. Two minutes later, they doubled their lead after a scuffle in front of the net ended with a toe poke. The Brownies enjoyed a fast-paced and pleasurable first half which saw them take a two goal lead into the half-time break.

The Brownies wanted to begin the second half just how they ended the first half but it took a while for them to put their shooting boots on. Once they found their footing, the goals came flooding in as they scored three goals in five minutes. After another poor clearance from FC Silverbacks, the ball awkwardly bounced into the path of Mazin who patiently waited before walking the ball into the net. Three minutes later, the Brownies were running towards goal on the counter attack. Jason Fowler and Rtvik Nambiar were the lone Brownies leading the charge as Fowler passed the ball across the face of goal to Nambiar for an easy tap-in.

In the 37th minute, Fowler got a chance for another goal. This time, he had no intentions of passing as he received the ball on his right before and expertly hammered the ball into the net with his right. In the 39th minute, Mirza doubled his scoring tally when he realized he was left unmarked and let off a shot a long way from goal which dipped into the net to give the Brownies a six goal lead. After receiving an assist from Fowler earlier on, Nambiar returned the favor to Fowler when he played Fowler into an open net for his second goal. As the game closed, the Brownies set up one more attack with Fowler seizing the opportunity to score his third goal and put his team through to the finals.

There aren’t many ways to describe this performance from the Brownies other than supremacy and superiority. From the jump, they controlled all aspects of the game from goals to saves to pure effort. This was an impressive display from them to knock out the league’s best regular season team. Now, they’ll look forward to a difficult final matchup against Unmeggable FC on Sunday.
