Brazcouver move back to 1st momentarily following scoring spree vs FC Finesse

Entering tonight’s game, Brazcouver (24 points) were in 2nd place, still trailing Viet United (25 points). With Viet United having a bye week this week, Brazcouver had an opportunity to go back into 1st place having played one more game than Viet United. Last time these two teams matched up, Brazcouver took the 4-1 win. FC Finesse entered action following a week off and before that a 2-1 loss to GI and Friends.

From the opening whistle, Brazcouver controlled the game and in the 4th minute, Neves Mautone caught FC Finesse off guard with his quick strike just outside the penalty area to score the first goal of the game. After plenty of Brazcouver chances, a FC Finesse attack was stopped in its tracks after Afuberoh was found a few yards from the penalty box. Unfortunately, FC Finesse were unable to make the fre kick count. In the 14th minute, Neves Mautone doubled his and Brazcouver’s scoring total following a strike from an unorthodox spot that the goalkeeper got a fingertip to but the shot proved to be too strong to stay out of the net. After multiple opportunities to score, FC Finesse finally got on the scoresheet courtesy of Adeoti whose quick strike beat the keeper. Before half-time, Brazcouver scored two goals in consecutive minutes to bring their to 4-1 just before the break. Melo’s strike in the 21st minute was no match for the keeper and was rocketed into the top right corner. In the following minute, Brazcouver disposed of a FC Finesse attack to give Ramos de Jesus a clean look on goal and in typical Brazcouver fashion, he scored the team’s 4th goal.

To begin the 2nd half, both teams were active towards goal but couldn’t find the hack of the net either from missing the net or the cause of some great defending. In the 33nd minute, Santos was able to break the 2nd half deadlock following a calmly taken penalty. Although Brazcouver were starting to run away with the game, both teams had a similar amount of chances and FC Finesse made one of them count in the 36th minute to score their 2nd and final goal of the game. Adeyemi’s follow-up on Kareem’s miss was originally saved but Adeyemi was able to follow-up his own miss to tap the ball into the net. The final goal of the game for both teams was scored by Rocha following a Brazcouver counter attack when he composedly put the ball past the goalkeeper. The final whistle was blown and the score read: FC Finesse 2-6 Brazcouver.

Although having played a game more, Brazcouver did move into first place after winning their 9th out of 10 possible games this season. For FC Finesse, they’re in danger of falling out of the 3rd place race with GI and Friends and Unmeggable FC. Fortunately for them, they have played one less game than the teams in front of them and a win would put them back into 3rd.
